Templates
A template decides which sections a type of page starts with. Kyoto comes with one template for each type of page, plus three extra templates for pages. You can change any of them in the theme editor, and you can make more.

Using the page templates
The three extra page templates are ready to use with any page you write in Shopify:
- In your Shopify admin, open Online Store > Pages and open the page, or create one.
- Under Theme template, choose contact, faq or compare.
- Save. The page now shows its text, followed by the contact form, the FAQ or the product comparison.
The FAQ section can also add FAQ data for search engines (see SEO). The product comparison shows the products shoppers ticked with Show compare checkbox on product cards (see Collection page).
Making your own template
To give some products, collections or pages a different layout:
- In the theme editor, open the page menu at the top and choose the type of page, for example Products.
- Choose Create template, give it a name and base it on an existing template.
- Change the sections of the new template.
- In your Shopify admin, open each product (or collection, or page) that should use it and choose the template under Theme template.
Templates and everything in them are kept when you update Kyoto.
